Financial Stability & Responsible Gambling Initiative (FSRG)

Led by Kindbridge Research Institute in partnership with UCLA.

Gambling is more accessible than ever, and for many individuals, it can quietly become a driver of financial stress: missed bills, mounting debt, strained relationships, and housing stability. The FSRG initiative is the first coordinated US effort to treat gambling-related financial harm as both a public-health and financial-stability issue. We are bringing together financial institutions, researchers, and healthcare professionals to develop practical, research-informed solutions that prevent harm before it escalates.

Why It Matters
Millions of Americans face financial stress, and gambling-related harms often appear first and can be an early warning sign of deeper instability. When identified early, these harms are highly addressable, helping people avoid crises and protecting communities from cascading harms.
